James Brown

James Brown, doing “Prisoner of Love” and “Please Please Please”, from the TAMI (Teen-Age Music International) Show, 1964.

Although I’d heard his music earlier, this film was the first time I’d ever *seen* James Brown perform. It’s not the sort of thing you forget easily, even after 43 years.

Yep, awesome talent. I’ve only really begun to appreciate him in recent years, thanks to XM satellite radio. I only found out about him when he did that “Living in America” song in one of the Rocky flicks. Which shows my age, I guess.

People are mourning all over the world, but rumor has it that consonants are having a big celebration.
