Damn…

I’ve let almost a week slip by with only a couple of comment replies posted.

Sorry.

I’ve been immersed in Doctor Fate.

I’ll post some thoughts on the series when I finish this script.

I’m experimenting a bit (always dangerous) and learning a few things (always interesting — to me, anyway).

No worries: I look forward to some of the details on the experiments. And here you were complaining about spending your saturday nights alone with Fate. It seems you guys are getting along fine!

You must know by now that no apology is even necessary. I hope the work has been enjoyable, even if it’s “feel the burn” enjoyable.

There may not be time to answer this question, but if you find that you have absolutely nothing else to do, could you tell us how you came to be the writer of this new Doctor Fate series? Did you pitch, or did DC come to you?

And will this character get a few issues to be who he’ll be, before getting dragged into some giant crossover that distracts us all from story and character development?

(That didn’t quite sound like an endorsement of giant crossovers now did it? Ooops.)

Learning a few things?!?! Egads, stop man…. before you know it, you’ll start a hobby-wide trend and there go all of the stereotypes related to comics!!!

Hope you are having fun with it. The Previews solicits looks great!

  4. Brian Spence Says:

Looks like you’d had a few really big posts lately, so no worries.

You’re right. There’s no time to answer that question right now. But I will when I get past this deadline crunch.

Charles: “And will this character get a few issues to be who he’ll be, before getting dragged into some giant crossover … ?”

Yes, because, in a way, our starting point is the *end* of a major crossover, the *Day of Vengeance: Infinite Crisis Special*. (Which book, by the way, convincingly challenges the premise that giant crossovers have to distract from character and story development.) The five “Helmet of Fate” one-shots pick up where that story leaves off, we do a bit a of recapitulation in the first issue of the ongoing series, and then we plunge headlong into Fate’s own territory for awhile.

  6. Charles Bryan Says:

Thanks, Mr. G! Good to know that Fate will get a chance to get his feet on the ground. Or in the air. Or some other dimension. Ah, you know what I mean.

    Good luck with the Crunch.

    Hey Mr. Gerber,

I remembered the thread you posted a while back about disliking the phrase “Democrat Party.” I figured you might like this article.
