Weekly Weigh-In & Prednisone Laff Riot #1-c
Starting weight: 215
Previous weight: 215.5
Current weight: 217
In truth, I’ve only been back on the diet stringently for a couple of days. Now that I’m actually on the transplant list, dumping the weight has taken on an even greater urgency. Next week’s number should be more meaningful…or so I’m telling myself.

You’re working out too, right???

Brian: Unfortunately, I can’t work out. The condition of my lungs is such that just bending over and straightening up often leaves me out of breath. I’m really looking forward, after the operation, to being able to take walks again and, eventually I hope, being able to get back to the gym.

Steve, forgive me for asking if you’ve covered this, but does your weight affect whether you’ll get the transplant, even now that you’re on the list?
It’s hard enough to lose weight, but doing it without exercise is relying on near-starvation. You just don’t burn off enough calories if you can’t get around.

I get around — just very slowly and with much huffing and puffing. My current weight doesn’t disqualify me for the operation. The surgeon said, however, it would be much easier for him to get me through the surgery and subsequent recovery process if I dumped the weight. I may not make it all the way to 179 before I get the call, but the closer I can get to that number the better it’ll be for my prognosis.

Hey Steve… ‘member me?
I just returned home from dinner w/Gordon & Donna… and I’m here to offer good thoughts, cheers, prayers and a hey… it’s been a helluva long time.
Hope to see you back in the saddle soon.
