Electrolyte and Fluffy

When I get dehydrated, my thought processes tend to randomize.

– I can never remember what the word “codependent” means, because it just means “dependent.” Like “proactive” means “active” and “pre-installed” means “installed.” People add superfluous syllables to common words to make themselves sound important.

– John of Patmos.

– As a kid, I once had a knife held to my throat. In my late teens, I once had a shotgun pointed at me. At an antiwar rally in 1968 or -9, a man in a VFW hat screamed in my face, “Where’s your Little Red Book?” I went, “Huh?” and told him I didn’t know what a Little Red Book was. He didn’t believe me.

– Oh my god! “Walk” rhymes with “talk”!!!

– Coherence tomorrow, comedy tonight.

Little Red Book, Orange Catholic Bible, The King In Yellow Pages, Green Stampbook, Project Blue Book, …Void Indigo Trade Paperback…

A better word for codependency would be symthanatosis, hence a codependent would be a symthanatote, and his codependent lifestyle would be his symthanatote-bag.

    Patmos Island has wi-fi.

    Somthing repulsive, someone compulsive
Something for everyone! A comedy tonight!

BTW – I can’t find a cover shot of Nevada big enough for me to make out details, so I’m experimenting with ostriches first…

(“Apologies” indeed! Somehow I managed to post this comment in the wrong place. So I’m posting it again here, in an effort to prove that I’m not totally inept:)

Two nonexistent words that I find irksome are “irregardless” and “overexaggerating”. Both are redundant.

Steve: I’m assuming the veteran was implying that you were a commie or a pinko. On the other hand, a website detailing the history of fanzines claims that circa 1968 you were a “pro-war supporter” heckling the protesters at an anti-war rally. (Maybe they were confusing you with Ted Sallis in “A Candle For Sainte-Cloud”.)

    Trying to be helpful…

A codependent is someone who is being manipulated by someone afflicted with a psychological condition in order to exacerbate that condition.

Proactive is when you’re active before whatever you’re being active about happens.

Pre-installed means installed by the manufacturer rather than the retailer.

The website is mistaken. I did get into a small row with some SDS types once, though, when they refused to let a pro-war student approach the mic at a “free speech” rally.

    Steve,
Tell us about your Sleep Apnea. My doctor wants to snip off my uvula and I want a more informed perspective before I let him!

Shows how much you knew about Herbert Marcuse’s concept of “liberating tolerance.”

John of Patmos, this sounds interesting. Have you read D. H. Lawrences’ Apocalypse essay?

A codependent is someone who depends on a person who is dependent on something. As such, they are once removed from the actual depended upon thing, but nevertheless dependent on it by way of some dependent person, hence the “co”. I think.
