Appalled
Why is it that every time Mr. Compassionate Conservative is called upon to evince some, he has to ring in Dad and Clinton?
On the other hand, called upon to demonstrate ineptitude, el Proctodento is a true champ. Bagdad, Fallujah, New Orleans, hey, wherever — bring it on! This here Adminisfuckingstration guarantees some more Americans, preferably poor black ones, will die for ya! Don’t thank us — it’s what we do. Yee-hah!
Related note: When lunatics fly airplanes into buildings in New York, it’s because God wants vengeance on lesbians. When hurricanes demolish red states, it’s because He works in mysterious ways.
(It’s lucky I’m only operating at about 30% rage capacity. There would be pixels boiling and popping like zits on your screen if I had the energy…)

Hell, Steve, you know why he’s bringing in Poppa and Bill Clinton. Both displayed some competence during their terms in office (although Poppa Bush’s was limited to foreign policy). I’m always pleased when junior goes running to his betters for help. Not just because I dislike Junior, but because I figure something will be done right — for a change.
Incidently, repentamerica.com has explained the hurricane hitting New Orleans. It’s all because of gays, lesbians and Mardi Gras.

You must have missed the memo, Steve. Repent America (aka Bigots ‘r’ Us) is claiming God destroyed New Orleans because its people allowed gays to carry on in the city.

Sounds like you’re feeling better already!

It must be especially humiliating for Dubya to have to keep dragging out his dad, if it’s true — as a lot of people have suggested over the years — that Dubya was motivated by the desire to surpass his father. “I got elected to a SECOND term! I took out Saddam and HE didn’t! I was the one he thought WOULDN’T get anywhere!” The tale goes that Dubya’s parents withheld approval and support for the boy all his life, and like any abused child, he’s responded by trying to impress them ever since. I can’t know for a fact that this is true…but if it is, how it must burn him to need daddy’s help.

Steve, you should stop worrying about what a great deal of people do “in the name of God”. For your own health.
I can kill my neighbour “in the name of Howard the Duck”, but this won’t affect Howard any way.
Or I can do my best to cancel the memory of Steve Gerber from history, create a political party, a terrorist organization, an occult society, in order to erase all the memory of him, but this won’t affect even slightly the fact you wrote stories which will not be forgotten, while for 23nd century students the names of your president Bush, Al Qaeda or even Adolf Hitler will probably be dull names in an ever-repeating history book of the mundane.
So, if you can’t forgive him, try at least to forget him. And don’t be angry about what people do “in the name of God”. It’s Him which takes the offense first.
And be careful with the weblog practice: I see them too often as dangerous exercises in disguised pride. Never mistake pride for self-esteem.
With a lot of esteem,
Claudio

It’s actions, not words that politicians need to be judged on, as commented on at imdb news:
While he was interviewing Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu, Anderson Cooper interrupted her after she thanked President Bush and former President Clinton “for their strong statements of support.” Said Cooper, “I’m sorry for interrupting but for the last four days, I’ve been seeing dead bodies in the streets here in Mississippi, and to listen to politicians thanking each other and complimenting each other, I got to tell you, there are a lot of people here who are very upset and very angry and very frustrated. And when they hear politicians thanking one another, it kind of cuts them the wrong way right now, because literally there was a body on the streets of this town yesterday being eaten by rats because this woman had been laying in the street for 48 hours and there’s not enough facilities to take her up.”
