Back in Green

The blog is back. Enormous thanks to Sandon at Dreamhost Customer Support for patience and persistence above and beyond. If you’re looking for a place to park your web site, I recommend Dreamhost whole-heartedly. I’m still under the gun with DOCTOR FATE, so it may take a few days to finalize the blog cosmetics. Bear […]

Frying in Deep Fate

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

I’ve been immersed in trying to solve a DOCTOR FATE storytelling problem for — uhm — a very long time. The solution arrived yesterday, at a Starbucks near the intersection of Lake Mead and Buffalo in Las Vegas. I now consider this establishment holy ground. The pigeons and sparrows are oracles reading cake crumbs. The […]

An Observation, Not a Joke

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Watching Cho Seung-Hui, the Virginia Tech mass murderer, read his “manifesto” into the camera, I noticed something oddly familiar about the expressionless, run-on, nasal quality of the voice. On the fifth or sixth listening, I got it. Cho sounds *exactly* like the possessed Rick Moranis in *Ghostbusters*, saying, “I am Vinz Clortho, Keymaster of Gozer.” […]

I’m in the process of changing host services, and there may be a little transition time involved.

FYI: Doctor Fate

Friday, April 13th, 2007

“Help me, dear doctor, I’m damaged. There’s a pain where there once was a heart…”

Very encouraging visit to the cardiologist yesterday. Blood pressure is back in the range it should be (124/76). Liver and kidney functions, cholesterol, triglycerides, and EKG all normal. I seem to be okay for the moment.

No More Anus in the Morning

If this current media flap teaches us anything, it’s that calling people names is not inherently humorous.

Jingle Jangle Mourning Sickness

Sorry about not posting for a number of days. I haven’t been sleeping well, haven’t accomplished nearly as much as I wanted (needed) to with the writing, haven’t been able to concentrate much. Time to take inventory, figure out what the hell — oh! THAT!! It’s tax time again! Yippoo! The only time of year […]

Doctor Fate Q&A – 4

Friday, March 30th, 2007

From Jack Holt: I hope magic still has some tricks up its sleeve, some quirks that keep the good Doctor on his toes. I like the idea of Doc using a system of magic, but somehow I hate the idea of magic itself being limited. Fairy queens, will o’ wisps, and the music of the […]

Doctor Fate Q&A – 3 (and a digression)

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

From Kenneth W. Lieck: 1) Has your previous Dr. Fate series [the Flash back-up w/the delicious Mike Golden art] ever been collected, and/or is it fated to face collection if this Fate fares well and doesn’t fale… er, fail? 2) Since I asked the above question, I guess I should ask if this storyline will […]
